The numbered suits
Bamboo, Circles, and Millions
Each suit runs from 1 to 9 with four copies of every face. Only these three families can make a Chow.
Bamboo 索 / 条
1 to 9
Circles 筒
1 to 9
Millions / Characters 萬 / 万
1 to 9
Honor tiles
Winds and Dragons
Honor tiles do not have numbers and cannot form sequences. Use matching pairs, Pongs, or Kongs.
Winds 風牌
A Pong or Kong scores 1 Fan when it matches the Prevailing Wind, your Seat Wind, or both.
Dragons 三元牌
Every Dragon Pong or Kong earns 1 Fan.
Bonus tiles
Flowers, Seasons, and Singapore Animals
Expose every bonus tile immediately and draw a replacement from the back of the wall.
Seat-number mapping
Each Flower or Season matching your Seat Wind number earns 1 Fan. Artwork and plant names can vary, so use the printed number.
The four Animals 动物牌
Each Animal earns 1 Fan. Physical artwork differs, so recognise the label rather than one illustration style.
Beginner shortcut
Sort a new hand in this order
- Group Bamboo, Circles, and Millions by suit and number.
- Place Winds and Dragons together at one end.
- Expose every Flower, Season, and Animal, then replace each from the back.
- Look for adjacent numbers, pairs, and triples before deciding what to discard.
